With stakes season on the horizon, The Meadowlands has a unique proposal to offer horsemen with three-year-olds eligible to the Simpson Memorial Stakes.
The upcoming condition sheet offers a "Simpson Eligibles Preferred" event for sophomores of all sexes and gaits with a purse of $20,000 over the weekend of April 19-20. If any/all of those prep races fill with Simpson eligible horses, The Meadowlands will pay the $500 Simpson Stakes entry fee for the horses that start in the prep. The Simpson pacing stakes are scheduled for May 3 (fillies) and May 4 (colts) with the trots a week later on Friday, May 10.
