It has been announced that the Tattersalls Spring Mixed Sale at the Meadowlands, which was originally scheduled for April 28, has been cancelled.
Officials with Tattersalls have cited a lack of entries as the reason for the cancellation.
“Although there were horses entered from a few of the major racing stables, unfortunately there weren’t enough overall to justify conducting the sale,” said manager David Reid.
“We tacked this sale onto our calendar to offer a market for this time of year -- if it was needed -- but most horsemen we spoke with said they were planning to wait until the Summer Mixed to sell. Horses will be in the middle of their racing seasons by that time, and owners and trainers can plan accordingly to sell and raise capital for the fall yearling sales.”
The Tattersalls Summer Mixed Sale at the Meadowlands will be held on Sunday, July 14, the day after the Meadowlands Pace. That sale will include two-year-olds and older racehorses.
