Pompano Park has announced it will offer eight new series which are scheduled to be contested with their divisions and finals in the period of May 2 through July 2

.

Nominations, at $200 each, are due by Friday, April 15 for The Evaluation Pacing Series, The Appraisal Trotting Series and The Spring Bling Pacing Series. Nominations are $250 each for The Trot Spot Series are also due by this Friday.

The eliminations and finals of these four events will be staged from May 2 through May 18 for three and four-year-olds. Purses for the eliminations will be $6,000, except for the The Trot Spot Series, which will be $8,000. Finals will go for an estimated $15,000, except for the championship of the Trot Spot Series which will be for an estimated $18,000.

"We're hoping there's a good response to these new events," says John Yinger, Director Of Racing Operations. "We haven't had any Series action here since the Florida Breeders Super Night here last December so we feel this initiative by our Race Secretary Greg DeFrank is well timed. In addition to the continuity for the fans it also gives our horsepeople the potential for some slightly higher purses and it's a great chance for them to assess the talent level of their horses for the near and longer term future."

The second wave of Series action will be restricted to Florida-bred three-year-olds. Nominations, at $150 each will close on May 15 for the four divisions of The Preview Series. In all events of The Preview Series the eliminations purse offering will be $6,000, with championship final purses at an estimated $12,000. The Preview Series legs and finals are scheduled from June 13 through July 2.

For all of the new events being offered the format calls for two legs plus the final. Declarations for each event close in accordance with the condition sheet. Full details of eligibility for the May events are available by calling the Pompano race office at (954) 633-6476.
