Gary Revington Passes

Longtime harness racing industry participant Gary Revington of Fairview, P.E.I., formally of Lucan, Ont. passed away on Friday April 9, 2021 at the age of 75.

Gary was a farmer and part owner of Sheridan Revington Ltd. within the cattle industry. Gary’s true passion though was horses, travelling across Ontario and the U.S. to watch the horses he owned. Some of Gary’s favourite horses were Angels Uprising, Driving On, Paul Killean, Fireside Allstar, Irish Kam, Kawartha Pompay, Mullica Might, Zooms D but the one who held a special place with him was Almahurst Sport who he would visit often with a bag of carrots after retirement in Granton, Ont.

Gary often volunteered to coach his children’s hockey and baseball teams. Gary was an accomplished hockey player and travelled to many provinces and states to compete in tournaments. He was a founding member of the Lucan Irish Flyers Oldtimers hockey team, which won numerous tournaments.

Many nights were had playing card games which almost always turned into competitive battles, but play had to be stopped once the horses were in behind the gate.

Beloved and devoted husband of Ann (George). Loving and cherished father of Brett (Karen), and Chris. Very proud and cherished Grandpa of Brooklyn and Zachary. Survived by sister, Marlene Marshall of Lucan. Gary will be sadly missed by his many, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the great staff at QEH and Dr. Kennedy for the care he provided for Gary over the years. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be a family Funeral on P.E.I. Once COVID restrictions are removed a Celebration of life will take place in Lucan, Ont. Interment St. James Cemetery. In memory of Gary and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Diabetes Society would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the Hillsboro Funeral Home.
