Archie Peel Passes

Horseman Archie D. Peel, 72, of Newark, Del., passed away on Thursday, March 3 at his home.

Born July 13, 1943, in Wilmington, Del., Peel was the son of the late Archie L. and Mary Frances (McDaniel) Peel. He graduated from the University of Delaware and was drafted into the National Guard where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association and the USTA. He loved animals, especially horses and was a dedicated trainer, driver, owner, and breeder of Standardbreds for more than 50 years.

Peel also enjoyed boating and water skiing on the Elk River in his younger years.

He was a loving brother and friend who will be dearly missed.

Peel is survived by his sisters, Alvira (Robert) Colbert, Sandra (Richard) Czerner and Cheryl Mitchell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (March 9) at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
