California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced the reappointment of Bo Derek to the California Horse Racing Board
, where she has served as a member since 2008.
Derek, 50, has been an actress since 1974 and has served as spokeswoman for the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act since 2003. Since 2000, she has owned Bless the Beasts, a business that sells fine pet care products.
Derek has served as chairperson for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Rehabilitation Special Events since 2000. Additionally, she has served as the special envoy of the Secretary of State on Wildlife Trafficking and member of the board of directors of WildAid and the Galapagos Conservancy, Ecuador .
This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Derek is a Republican.
