With rain and warm temperatures expected across Ontario over the next 48 hours, Flamboro and Georgian Downs advise horsemen to 'call ahead' with regard to Saturday’s racing cards
.
“We’ve got meetings set up with our track crews and local horsemen’s reps at both sites well ahead of post time,” reports Chris Roberts, director of racing operations. “We’re expecting daytime highs of about seven degrees mixed with plenty of rain. There are no guarantees at this point, but we’ll be looking to provide horsemen and patrons with as much notice as possible should track conditions deteriorate.”
Flamboro expects to make a decision regarding the Saturday card by 9:00 a.m., while Georgian will issue an advisory by 1:30 p.m.
Saturday’s qualifying session at Georgian was cancelled earlier today and has been re-scheduled for Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm. Entries will be accepted until noon on Saturday and can be made by calling (705) 726 2558. Due to available paddock space and the evening’s planned racing card, the qualifying session will be limited to the first 18 horses entered.
