Equitours, a Swedish travel company specializing in horse tours, is offering its first Elitlopp package aimed at North American racing fans who want to see the world’s greatest trotters in action

.

The Elitlopp is one of the world’s greatest harness racing events, drawing a crowd of more than 35,000 to the beautiful Solvalla racecourse in Stockholm. It will be held May 31. Sixteen trotters, including several from North America and the best from Europe, will compete in two elimination heats to earn a ticket to the prestigious final.

Last year the top American older trotter Enough Talk finished second in his elimination heat and third in the final. He was driven by Luc Ouellette for trainer-owner Peter Kleinhans.

Earlier this year Equitours hosted 16 guests from North America at the Prix d’Amerique in Paris.

The Elitlopp tour includes a trip to beautiful and historic Menhammar Stuteri where famous trotters such as Varenne and Viking Kronos stand at stud and where famed trainer Stefan Hultman conditions his stable of trotting stars.

The tour also includes a tour of Drottningholm, the Swedish royal castle, and the Absolut Vodka Icebar in central Stockholm. A visit to the Elite Yearling Auction in Stockholm is also part of the trip along with sightseeing and time at the races.

Accommodations in Stockholm and transportation will be provided as part of the tour, but guests are able to make their own airline arrangements.
