April 15 Stakes Payment Deadlines

Trot Insider has begun to consolidate all of the releases pertaining to stakes payments which are due Friday, April 15. Check back with this note, as it will be updated as releases are received

This notice may not contain all stakes with payments due on April 15. Please refer to your stakes guide for more information.

Also, some stakes payments can now be paid on the SC website using the new Online Stake Payment Program.


Standardbred Canada April 15 Stakes Deadline

Standardbred Canada would like to remind horsemen that stakes payments are due on or before Friday, April 15.

Stakes payments can now be paid on the SC website using the new Online Stake Payment Program. The SC online staking service covers the majority of Canadian stakes your horse is eligible to be nominated to such as Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS), Woodbine Entertainment (WEG), and any stakes that SC currently administers including stakes programs in Alberta and the Maritimes.

Please note that payments for WEG stakes must be submitted by SC to WEG on the stakes' due date, therefore these stakes online stakes payments must be made one day before the payment due date. Please check the due date carefully.

If you did not receive a stakes notice in the mail, a generic stakes form can be used to submit payments by mail. It can be located by clicking here.

WEG Stakes Reminder

Woodbine Entertainment Group would like to remind all owners, horsemen and women, that Friday, April 15, 2011 is the deadline for sustaining payments which are due for the circuit’s major stakes events.

Dream Of Glory, Balanced Image Payments Due At Hanover Raceway

Hanover Raceway has sent out a reminder to horsepeople that there are two important payments due on April 15.

Sustaining payments for the 98 horses which were nominated to the $100,000 Dream of Glory are due.

Also due are the nomination payments for the Balanced Image Trot for two-year-olds. To view the form, click here.

Both payments are $200 and should be mailed (preferably via Priority Post) to Hanover Raceway, 265 5th St. Hanover, Ontario, N4N 3X3.

Nominations For Clinton's Spring Cleaning Stakes And Kin Pace Due

Officials with Clinton Raceway have announced that nominations for the Spring Cleaning Stakes and Kin Pace are due April 15.

Forms for the two events, along with the Central Huron Stakes (which will close May 15) are available here.

For more information, call the Clinton race office at 519-482-5270. Live racing at Clinton will begin at Clinton on Sunday, May 1 with a first-race post time of 1:30 p.m.

NJSS Payments Due April 15 For Eligibility To 2011 Races

April 15 is last chance for New Jersey-sired two-year-old and three-year-old pacers and trotters to be kept eligible to all 2011 New Jersey Sire Stakes pari-mutuel racing programs.

The NJSS Premier Division is scheduled to begin in May at the Meadowlands and the Green Acres Division in August at Freehold Raceway.

NJSS Executive Secretary Chris Castens reminds horse owners that the April 15 second sustaining payments this year have been reduced to $500 for both two and three-year-olds. Last year the Premier Division fee was $550 for two-year-olds and $650 for three-year-olds.

Also due are $150 Green Acres Division payments for two-and three-year-olds. The second sustaining payments must be made in order to keep horses eligible for all 2011 NJSS races.

Castens also urges horse owners to use certified mail and notes that no billing notices will be sent and no late payments will be accepted.

NYSS Payments Due April 15

New York Sire Stakes officials have sent out a reminder to horsepeople that sustaining payments are due April 15, 2011. These payments are required to remain eligible to race in the 2011 NYSS season.

Cheques or money orders must be in U.S. funds, postmarked by April 15, 2011, and made payable to the Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund (ANYSHBDF). Mail to 90 State Street, Suite 809, Albany, NY 12207.

The NYSS 2011 April Payments are per horse and are as follows:

Two-Year-Old Payments

• Sire Stakes: $350
• State Fair: $200
• County Fair: $75

Three-Year-Old Payments

• Sire Stakes: $450
• State Fair: $250 (Fillies)
• State Fair: $350 (Colts)
• County Fair: $75

Tioga Downs Late Closer Nominations Due April 15

Tioga Downs' 2011 live racing season will begin on Saturday, May 7 and will bring with it the annual slate of Late Closing events. The Tioga series are the only events available in the region that are restricted to three-year-olds.

Pacing (The Kenneth J) and trotting (The Morrisville College Sale) colts will kick things off on opening weekend. They are to be followed by events for their distaff counterparts one week later. All finals for the sophs are estimated at $25,000.

Another round begins in early June, addressing the more accomplished three to five-year-olds. New this year are separate events for fillies and mares, offering the girls a welcome opportunity to battle it out among themselves. The finals for these events are listed at $35,000 (estimated).

Overnight purses have been increased to a very competitive level this year at Tioga, and the racing surface has improved to be considered as one of the best around. Come and see why Tioga Downs enjoys a reputation as the most horseman friendly track around.

Sustaining Payments For Delaware Open Series & Ohio Breeders Championships Due April 15

A payment of $100 is due for the new Delaware Open early closing series for all two and three-year-olds of both gaits and sexes. This new series will replace the New Century Series that was limited to Ohio-sired horses. Each event is expected to be raced for $8,000 (est).

A payment of $200 is due for each of the eight Ohio Breeders Championships.

All of the Delaware Open Series and Ohio Breeders Championships will be raced during Grand Circuit week (September 18 - September 22).

New Pompano Stakes Nominations Due Friday

Nominations at $150 per horse are due on Friday, April 15 for four new late closing series being offered at Pompano for three and four-year-olds of both gaits and sexes.

The Evaluation Series, The Appraisal Series, The Spring Bling Series will all have two legs for $6,000 purses and a final for an estimated $15,000 purse. The Trot Spot Series will have two legs for $8,000 purses and a final for an estimated $18,000 purse. All will be contested from May 2 through May 18.
