Longshots lit up the toteboard in every leg of Wednesday’s Pick-4 wager at the Meadowlands, and that helped produce a record payout of $55,410.
The winner correctly chose Southern Comfort [$18.60], Not Quite Forty [$38.80], Riding The Rapids [$85.00] and Julies Shadow [$13.00] to take down the entire pool. It marked the second consecutive Wednesday night in which the Pick-4 paid more than $50,000.
The wager returned $51,365 on March 18. The previous record was $53,196.60 on January 24, 2008.
Offered nightly on races six through nine, the Pick-4 has become a "must bet" at the Meadowlands with its low 15 percent takeout, guaranteed pools [$25,000 Wednesday - Friday and $50,000 Saturday] and high return rate. The next Pick-4 is Thursday night at the Meadowlands.
