On Sunday, March 22, Dubai’s government media office announced via social media that the 2020 edition of the Dubai World Cup for Thoroughbreds has been cancelled.
Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the event’s organizers had announced that the races would be contested without spectators in attendance. Now the annual event has been cancelled entirely.
The social media announcement from the Dubai Government’s media office states, “To safeguard the health of all participants, the higher organising committee of the Dubai World Cup 2020 has decided to postpone 25th edition of the global tournament to next year.”
The Dubai World Cup had been scheduled for Saturday, March 28.
