Officials with Miami Valley Raceway have announced that in an effort to fill a pair of ‘Legends’ late-closing series, the deadline for nominations has been extended to this Friday (March 25) at 9 a.m.
The Dr. Don Mossbarger Memorial is for fillies and mares that are non-winners of six pari-mutuel races or $50,000 in lifetime purse earnings through March 20; while the Tom Tharps Memorial is for horses and geldings that fit the same conditions.
“The conditions for these series require 18 nominations and we’re getting close,” said the track’s race secretary, Gregg Keidel. “We just need a couple more for each series and hope to get them by Friday morning as these series are intended to be an annual tribute to some of Lebanon Raceway’s legendary figures from the past.”
It is doubtful that the overnight condition/claimer for N/W 6 PMs will fill during the first two weeks of the late-closing series, so horses that normally race in that class (as well as any others who fit) are urged to consider the Mossbarger and Tharps Late Closers.
