The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2011 MSOA Collegiate Scholarship, for the 2011-12 academic year. The scholarship had initially been worth a total of $5,000
.
Additionally, applications are also being accepted for the $1,000 Dr. Barry Betts Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by LCM Nutraceuticals, also for the 2011-12 academic year. Also, as of March 29, CSC Insurance Options has announced that it will support the MSOA's Collegiate Scholarship efforts with a $2,500 contribution, thus bringing the total scholarship funds available to $8,500.
"We're very pleased to continue to offer the MSOA scholarship, and we'd like to again thank LCM Nutraceuticals for joining us in our efforts to support these students," said MSOA President Rich Gillock. "The past winners have represented the MSOA quite well, and we look forward to seeing the applications roll in for this year."
Sons or daughters of an owner, trainer, driver or caretaker that has participated in harness racing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on a regular basis over the past two years preceding application are eligible. At least one parent must be a member in good standing with the MSOA, and the applicant must be at least a senior in high school.
