Officials with Cal Expo and the California Harness Horseman’s Association have announced that the track is raising purses again.
Coming on the heels of a December purse increase, Cal Expo and the CHHA have announced another 10 per cent, across-the-board purse increase, beginning with the Friday, March 25 program.
“Our stronger than expected per-race handle has our purse pool in a good position this season,” said CHHA President David Neumeister. “This, combined with our recent worker’s compensation regulatory decision, puts the industry in a good position going forward.”
This week will find Friday and Saturday night programs at Cal Expo, with no live racing on Easter Sunday. Racing will return to the regular Saturday/Sunday schedule next week and the meet continues through May 8.
