During a conference call open meeting of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission on Friday (March 20), the Commission voted unanimously to postpone the opening of the 2020 harness racing meet at Plainridge Park Casino from April 6 until June 1 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The delayed start to the season was a joint recommendation of Dr. Alexandra Lightbown, the Director of Racing for the M.G.C., and Steve O’Toole, the Director of Racing for Plainridge Park.
The parties agreed that the 2020 opening date is contingent upon a review of the ever-changing situation in early May.
