Live racing will be conducted Wednesday night (March 18) at Rosecroft Raceway as planned, however the qualifying races, training, and schooling have been cancelled.

Only essential personnel and Maryland Racing Commission-licensed horsepeople will be permitted on the grounds during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. The grandstand is closed.

Rosecroft urges all horsepeople to review the following precautionary measures being implemented to maintain live racing:

• Rosecroft asks that all trainers bring only essential employees with them to the racetrack. Unless grooming their own horses, owners will not be granted access to the paddock.

• Rosecroft will only allow three races into the paddock at a time. After the first race is over, trainers will have approximately 15 minutes before the fourth race is called into the paddock, and so forth. All horses, trainers, grooms and drivers should exit the paddock as soon as possible after they are finished racing.

• The drivers’ room will have limited access and will only be open to drivers and trainers wishing to change into their driving suits. The lounge area will be closed to minimize interactions.

• The food truck will not be open for business. Horsepeople are encouraged to bring their own food or drink to get them through the evening.

Please recognize that horsepeople and personnel in the paddock should maintain social distancing (approximately six feet away from other people) whenever possible and wash their hands frequently. Management is asking all horsepeople to please be mindful of others and to stay home if they are feeling under the weather or exhibiting any symptoms of the virus (fever, cough or shortness of breath).
