Yonkers Cancels After Three Races

In theory, spring arrives Wednesday, but that small factoid didn't stop Old Man Winter from making one last seasonal stand in the greater New York area.

Monday night's scheduled dozen-race Yonkers Raceway program was curtailed after three races due to wind-driven snow, which made for harness racing's version of unsafe driving conditions.

None of Monday's four divisions of the second round of the Petticoat Pacing Series went to post. That round shall not be made up, with the third and final prelim round scheduled for next Monday night (Mar. 25).

The accompanying photo shows driver Larry Stalbaum and Tatoos N' Scars waltzing through the white stuff in the $9,000, third-race pace.

The Raceway's five-night-per-week live schedule continues -- weather permitting -- with first post every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:10 p.m.
