Trot Insider has learned that E. Wayne Smith, co-owner of millionaire trotter Armbro Chronicle, passed away
last week after a lengthy illness.
Smith, who was 69 at the time of his passing, attended the O'Brien Awards in January 2009 to support Armbro Chronicle's nomination for Canada's 2008 Aged Trotter of the Year.
Smith, a longtime resident of Coldwater, Ont., had several successful horses in his career, including Makeba (1:51.1, $436,533), Certified Election (1:58, $225,163) and R C Mr Chip (1:55.1, $301,842).
Smith was a loyal patron to the Kent Baker stable and owned horses with Cal Patterson, Randy Fielder and Ed Woods over the years.
