Ron Sucee Passes

It has been announced that Ontario Standardbred racing participant Ron Sucee, 85, passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, March 13, 2020 surrounded by his family.

The Sucee name has been associated with harness racing in southern Ontario for quite some time. Ron, who was born on December 23, 1934, retired from General Motors after 44 years of service. The Sucee’s longtime family hobby has been racing Standardbreds in southern Ontario.

Ron is the son of the late Henry and Emily (nee Bishton) Sucee. He is the beloved husband of Gertrude (Trudy) nee Laforge for 67 years. Cherished father of Ralph (predeceased) Ken and his wife Heather, Robert and his wife Gloria, and Nancy and her husband Doug Brown. Loving ‘Pappa’ of Adam, Alana, Angela, Jeff (Julie) Meaghan (Andrew), Audrey (Will), Kristal (Ian), and Kyle and Great Grandfather of Wyatt, Kaelan and Lennox. Dear Brother of Harry (Kim) and the late Mel (Joan) and Dorothy Ferguson (Gordon) Ron will be fondly remembered by Victoria, his many nieces, nephew’s extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Courtice Funeral Chapel (1587 Highway #2, Courtice) on Tuesday, March 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Therese Catholic Church 3800 Courtice Road North on Wednesday, March 18 at 11 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
