Flamboro To Race; Closed To Public

On Saturday evening (March 14), Great Canadian Gaming issued a statement on the status of access to Flamboro Downs, noting that live harness racing would continue with access limited to essential participants.

The statement is as follows.

In conjunction with Ontario Racing, the organization that oversees all racing in the province, and in the interest of the health and safety of our team members, guests, and horsepeople, Flamboro Downs is announcing the closure of its racing facilities to the general public, effective with the race card scheduled for Sunday, March 15. This policy will be in effect for a minimum of two weeks.

Live harness racing at Flamboro Downs will continue as scheduled but without spectators and only essential team members, licensed horsepeople and regulators will be permitted in the facility or on the backstretch.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and stay in contact with public health officials and Ontario Racing to determine if a closure of Flamboro’s racing facilities to the public beyond two weeks is warranted.

Elements Casino Flamboro continues to remain open, while undertaking enhanced cleaning and hygiene protocol and also taking direction from health authorities.
