Officials from Standardbred Canada and Western Fair Raceway have confirmed that the Ontario Regional Driving Championship will now take place on Wednesday, March 30.

This event had to be rescheduled following the cancellation of racing at Western Fair on Friday, March 11 due to a snowstorm.

Eight of the province’s top drivers will compete in the ORDC to see who will represent Ontario in the upcoming National Driving Championship.

Drivers will receive points based on their finishing position in each of the eight championship races. The top two point earners will move on to compete in the National Driving Championship on Saturday, May 7 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park. They will join Atlantic Regional representatives Ken Arsenault and Gilles Barrieau, Western Regional reps Brandon Campbell and Dave Hudon, and Quebec reps Mario Charron and Sylvain LaCaille in the NDC to determine Canada’s representative for the World Driving Championship.

The drivers competing in the ORDC are:

Simon Allard
Gord Brown
Scott Coulter
Trevor Henry
Jody Jamieson
John MacDonald
Doug McNair
Scott Zeron

Drivers receive points as follows:

(• Finish - Points)
• 1st - 15
• 2nd - 10
• 3rd - 7
• 4th - 5
• 5th - 4
• 6th - 3
• 7th - 2
• 8th - 1

You can vote for the driver you think will win the Ontario Regional on Western Fair’s Facebook page.
