This year marks the 250th Anniversary of horse racing in Canada, providing an incredible opportunity for everyone associated with horse racing to celebrate the history of the industry and honour the sport’s champions and heroes, past and present.
Now that 2017 is here, let’s share our passion for horse racing and celebrate this major milestone for our industry and country!
The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame recently announced its “250 miles for 250 years” initiative asking racetracks and associations across the country to take part in honouring Canada’s racing history by hosting a commemorative mile.
In 400 words or less we want to hear your ideas on how you would or will commemorate or celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Horse Racing. If you were in charge of organizing an event to celebrate this occasion, what would it be? It can be something at a track, at a festival, a parade, farm, etc. The judges will evaluate the entries based on feasibility and budget, and the best ideas will be shared with racetracks and associations across the country.
The judges will also pick one winner who will receive a swag package of Fan Club and 250 merchandise and a $50 gift certificate to the Canadian harness racetrack of the winner’s choice.
Please email your ideas to [email protected] by March 28.
