Gregory ‘Greg’ Edward Murray Sr., 52, of Clearwater, Fla., passed away from complications of Multiple Sclerosis on February 5.
Murray was born in Lewiston, Maine, on May 21, 1962, the fifth son of Elizabeth and John Murray. He grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Foxboro High School.
Standardbred racing was his passion in life. Murray was involved with Standardbreds since childhood at Foxboro Raceway, Foxboro, Mass. He owned, trained, and raced Standardbreds over the east coast until the effects of Multiple Sclerosis limited his involvement.
Murray is survived by his children, Rachel and Gregory Jr.; mother, Elizabeth (Bette); step-father, George Bartlett; and brothers, Joseph, Daniel and James. He was preceded in death by his father, John; and his brother, John Jr.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 S. Belcher Rd., Clearwater, FL 33764 on Friday (February 13) at 10 a.m. A reception immediately following mass will be held at the church hall. Following the reception, interment services will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 118th Avenue N., Clearwater, FL 33760.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
