Racing gets underway for the 49th season at Pocono Downs on Saturday, March 22, and racing applications are now being accepted.
Interested horsemen are encouraged to submit their racing applications, for either stalls or ship-in privileges, online as early as possible. The stable area opens for the season on March 1.
Nominations for the popular Bobby Weiss Series will close on February 15. The Late Closer for three and four-year-olds will highlight the start of the 2014 racing season with four separate categories for gait and sex. The conditions for the series will be for non-winners of three extended pari-mutuel races or $40,000 lifetime as of and including January 1, 2014. A $300 nomination fee must accompany all submitted nominations.
The first qualifying races prior to the start of the season will be held on Tuesday, March 11; Thursday, March 13 and Thursday, March 20.
