Last year Tioga Downs, in conjunction with its horsemen’s group, the STHHA, experimented with a pilot program to lower its takeout rates across the board to New York state minimums. Tioga is proud to announce that it will continue with the program in 2011

.

The original Tioga Downs’ takeout rates were 18 per cent for Win/Place/Show; 20 per cent for Exactas/Doubles, and 25 per cent for all other exotics. For the 2011 race season, the price of those wagers will be reduced as they were in 2010 to: 15 per cent Win/Place/Show; 17 per cent Exacta/Double, and 21 per cent for all other exotics.

“We are happy that the program was a success last year and we will continue to support the racetracks lower rates this year," said STHHA President Guy Howard. "The STHHA understands that management is focusing on our bettors' concerns and we support that 100 per cent.”

“We made the move last year to reduce the takeouts across the board and we got a lot of positive feedback from horseplayers across the country," said Tioga VP of Racing and Simulcast Jason M. Settlemoir. "This is an initiative that we stand behind and believe that more tracks should make the move to lower takeouts.”

Tioga Downs will kick off its 2011 race season on Kentucky Derby Day, Saturday, May 7, 2011 with a first-race post time of 6:50 p.m.

Sadly The Takeouts are still 300 percent higher or more than other forms of Sport Betting. It is too little too late!!
