The U.S. Trotting Association has announced that the 2011 edition of 'Back to the Track' will take place on
the weekend of July 16 and 17.
Last year’s inaugural edition brought crowds back to harness tracks around the United States, and tracks responded by staging special promotions, offering food and beverage specials, granting access to racing 'behind the scenes' and participated in a national wager and sweepstakes.
The promotion is designed to give fans a reason to experience racing and a day or night at their local track as they remembered it years ago -- framed in an exciting atmosphere.
“Our plans are not yet complete, but we’ll be announcing them as we get closer to July 16,” USTA President Phil Langley said.
“We got off to a great start last year, and many tracks reported that they welcomed their biggest crowds of the year, or enjoyed a considerable increase in wagering. It was a day to say ‘we’ve got a great product; come and see us,’ and it accomplished that goal.
“We learned a few things about how to promote it, and plan it, and I promise fans they will again have a reason to return to the races.”
Back to the Track Weekend will coincide with one of the sport’s richest and most important races, the $1 million Meadowlands Pace, and this year’s racing schedule also features several top stakes at tracks around the country.
