Longtime horse and tack shop owner/operator Alan Wright has passed away at the Uxbridge Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was 69.
Alan’s father, the late Richard ‘Nellie’ Wright, started R.N. Wright Tack Shop several decades ago. The family has operated a tack shop at Kawartha Downs for many years and has been a mainstay at the Fraserville, Ontario track.
Alan and his brother Joe, along with Amanda Mills, who is considered family by the Wrights, had continued to operate the tack operation in addition to racing a few horses, following their father’s passing in 2015. Alan is also survived by his brother Steven. He is predeceased by his parents Leona and Nellie.
“On behalf of all of us at Kawartha Downs, we would like to express our condolences to the Wright family,” said the track’s marketing director, Heather MacKay Roberts. “Alan and his family have been an integral part of the Kawartha Downs’ family for many years and always willing to help promote racing here in any way.”
A celebration of life will be held February 18 at the Solina Hall (1964 Concession Road 6, Hampton, Ontario) from 1 to 4 p.m.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Alan Wright.
