In loving memory of Gord Dolson

Longtime harness horseman Gordon "Fancy" Allan Dolson passed away on Feb. 23, 2025 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ont., at the age of 69.

Gord had fought an incredible and courageous battle with cancer, never giving up hope and never complained. Gord passed while listening to George Jones with friends holding his hand.

Gord started at 15 years of age into the racing business and met many good friends along this journey. Gord was, to say the least, a "character."

He is survived by his sister Elvie Wile and brother Martin. He will be sadly missed by Allan and Linda and all his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Halton Naval Veterans Association, located at 2444 Industrial St., Burlington, Ont., L7P 1A5.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Gord Dolson.

My condolences to the Dolson family. Fancy was a friend of so many in the horse racing industry. RIP my friend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

'Fancy' was a constant presence in the backstretches of Greenwood and Mohawk, and was as kind a guy as you'd ever want to meet. He was definitely a character - one that eveyone loved and looked out for. I'm sad to hear of his passing but very happy to know that his good friends were by his side until the end.

R.I.P. Fancy :(

Fancy was a good friend of mine back in the day. He truly was a backstretch character and was truly beloved by all that knew him. Nothing but good memories and I always have a smile on my face when I talk or even think of him. Rest in peace my old friend.

My longtime friend Gord (Fancy) Dolson was the poster boy for 'An Original.‘ He certainly marched to his own drummer yet he spread joy and good will to one and all. Gord had an impish smile to go along with his generous, outgoing personality. He was an excellent horseman who had a unique ability to communicate with the horses he cared for. Everyone has their’ Fancy Stories ‘ and like me I’m sure all of them brought a smile to our faces. Sincere condolences to the Dolson family and especially Allan and Linda with the passing of this wonderful man. Thinking of my friend …… Hector Clouthier
