Rob MacKay Battling Cancer

Rob MacKay, a longtime employee of the Roger Mayotte Stable, has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

Over the past 18 years while working in the Mayotte Stable, MacKay has rubbed on stalwarts such as Escape The Wind, Cammibest, and Elegant Serenity. Now, the 50-year-old Milton, Ont. resident is facing the toughest battle of his life.

After spending the last five weeks in hospital, and having surgery as well as treatment, MacKay is now back at home for a short while, awaiting some test results, and news on what kind of treatments he is facing. It looks like he will be unable to work for at least the next three to six months, and fellow horsepeople are trying to help him make ends meet.

Longtime friend Shane Acton, who has set up a GoFundMe account for MacKay, says, "I have known Rob for 25 years. He is a hard worker and is always there when needed. Now he needs our help."

Yes, you can do it. I have been in that battle since 1992. In and out, and now in again. Just starting my treatments next week and hopefully will heal along with you. You probably don't know me but Roger does. Good luck.

Stay strong Rob, as one that has been battling cancer for the past year I know how hard the road ahead seems... but you can do it.
Soldier on... there is light at the end of that hospital hallway!
