The first few races at Pompano Park on Tuesday evening (February 23) were rather formful, but the train went off the tracks in the fourth race when Certain Potential (driven by Sergio Corona) picked up the pieces late to score a 118-1 upset by a head, over the even-money favourite Big Package (Kevin Wallis).
Certain Potential’s $238 win mutuel was the highest of the season at Pompano, and it triggered carryovers in the 50-Cent Pick 5 and the nightly Pentafecta.
The 50-Cent Pick 5 will feature a $7,749 carryover into Wednesday evening (February 24) and track officials have placed an ‘instant guarantee’ of $30,000 on the total pool. The Pick 5 begins on the first race of each live racing card.
The 20-Cent Pentafecta, featured on the fourth race of each program, will feature a $4,467 carryover, and track officials have placed an ‘instant guarantee’ of $15,000 on the total pool. The Pentafecta requires fans to select the top five finishers in order.
Live racing continues at the Isle Casino Pompano Park on a five-night per-week schedule, with a first post of 7:30 p.m. every Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening.
