The P.E.I. Harness Racing Industry Association (PEIHRIA) in conjunction with the P.E.I. Standardbred Breeders Association (PEISBA) announced that there is one spot remaining in the Broodmare Purchase Assistance Program.
This is a spot that was not filled by a successful applicant in the initial draw. To fill the mandate of bringing 10 mares to P.E.I., the associations have decided to open the program once again for applications from today (Wednesday, Feb. 2) through to Sunday, Feb. 6 at midnight. The associations will be accepting applications for both trotting and pacing mares to fill this final spot. The draw will be done online through Facebook Live on Monday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. The successful applicant will be contacted by phone. They will have until March 31, 2022 to purchase a mare.
Applications can be completed online by clicking here. Please make sure to read the program criteria carefully before submitting an application. Only Island residents qualify for the program. Proof of residency is required with the application.
