IM Group Clarifies Claiming Ratio

Last week, following extensive discussions with Race Secretaries, the Ontario Racing Program 's Implementation and Monitoring (IM) Group issued a clarification on how the claiming ratio is to be applied to claiming

handicap races.

Over the past few months, the IM Group has been working with industry participants, including a series of meetings with Race Secretaries, to review and fine tune changes to the Program. Since the start of the New Year, this review has focused on how racing conditions are written. These technical elements of the Program were first outlined in Implementation 3-2011, released one year ago.

What does the IM plan to do with the surplus they are creating? Give it back to the government?

Is the same ratio being applied to the other breeds?

IM group I would like to know if any of you have money invested in horses and realize how much it cost to keep a horse in good performance. Us horse people as owners trainers and drivers feel that this is not satisfactory and would like more money in our overnight racing or we will all be on welfare. So changing the claiming statues is not going to help horse people in anyway. We need more money to survive. I wish you people think long and hard about the decision you are making.
