Trot Insider has learned that longtime Standardbred horseman Pete Proctor, 72, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at Hamilton General Hospital while surrounded by family on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

Proctor lived out his passion with horses at Gregg McNair Stables for numerous years. If he wasn’t spending time with his horses, he was in the pool having a swim or enjoying a cold tall boy by the fire. He has touched the lives of so many and was truly a kind and caring man. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He will live on in all of our hearts.

Predeceased by his mother Mary and father Harold Proctor and son Brian Proctor as well as Alfred ‘Punchie’ (Eileen). Loving husband to Adele; loving father to Jim, Jason (Kristi), Lindsay (Jake), Kristine (Kelly), Angela (Jim), Nathan (Sarah), Deirdre (Marty); grandfather to Dustin, Cecilie, Julieanna, Emery, Emmalee, Nick, Noah, Isabella, Carter, and Alexander. Great Grandfather to Brooklyn. Dear brother of James (Barb), Theresa (the late Ernie), David, Margie and the late Micki (Joan), the late Liz (Jim), the late Joey (Millie) the late Mary June, the late Donna and the late Rose. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews

The family will be hosting a celebration of life at the Elora Legion 110 Metcalfe Street, Elora, ON, N0B 1S0 on Sunday, February 17 from 1-4 p.m. If desired memorial donations can be made to Hamilton General Hospital or Grand River Cancer Centre.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Pete Proctor.
