Updated: Friday Cancellations

Officials from eight tracks have now announced that their scheduled cards of live racing for today (Friday, Feb. 14) have been cancelled.

Officials with Fraser Downs have announced that they have been forced to cancel the track’s program of live racing scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14 due to unsafe track conditions. "These conditions were caused by very cold overnight temperatures and the frost is now coming out of the track," Harness Racing BC Executive Director Jackson Wittup has told Trot Insider.

Freehold Raceway officials have announced that the live racing program scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14 at the New Jersey track has been cancelled due to weather conditions. Live racing is scheduled to resume on Saturday with first-race post time set for 12:30 p.m.

Yonkers Raceway has cancelled its live racing program and all simulcasting for Friday, Feb. 14 due to after-effects of the latest snowstorm to sublet the Greater New York area. Live racing – and afternoon/evening simulcasting – is scheduled to resume Saturday (Feb. 15), with the usual 7:10 p.m. first post.

Horsepeople are advised that there is indeed a double-draw today (Friday) for next Tuesday and Thursday (Feb. 18 and 20, respectively), with the entry box closing at 4 p.m.

In terms of thoroughbred racing, officials from Aqueduct Raceway announced that they have cancelled live racing for Friday, Feb. 14 at the New York track. The raceway is still open for simulcasting. Live racing, weather permitting, is scheduled to resume Saturday (Feb. 15).

Officials from Turfway Park have announced that the track’s weekend programs, including Friday, have been cancelled due to snow and ice.

The other U.S. thoroughbred tracks which have cancelled their Friday cards of live racing include Charles Town, Laurel Park and Penn National.
