Former Standardbred Canada member Sharon Rochelle Lake of Elgin, Ont. passed away peacefully on November 25 at Carveth Care Centre after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was 82.
Sharon owned horses with her husband, former trainer/driver Earl Lake. A local favourite, Earlylakes John was among her top horses, winning the 1969 Connaught Cup and going on to earn more than $108,000 lifetime.
Beloved wife of Earl Lake. Loving mother of Carl (Darlene), Kevin (Lisa) and Tim (Shannon). Dear grandmother of Rochelle, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Cole and Cody. Will be missed by her siblings Sheila (Wayne) Sly, Sylvia (Orland) French, sister-in-law Sue Burtch and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Bryan Burtch and grandson Kyle.
In keeping with Sharon's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date. Memorial donations to Parkinson Canada (donate.parkinson.ca) in memory of Sharon would be greatly appreciated by the family.
