Longtime harness racing industry participant John Clark of London, Ont. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the age of 84.

John lived a long, happy and successful life. For over 30 years he worked for the Canadian National Railway. In John's youth he was a very competitive athlete, playing many sports but his main focus was hockey and fastball. John also had a passion for training harness horses.

A quiet, humble man, John shied away from being the centre of attention, but to anyone who knew him they couldn't help but be drawn to his witty sense of humor and his kindness.

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, John is cherished by his wife Donna of 52 years, his daughters Tammy, Tara and Kelly, his darling grandchildren Maddi, Jenna, Robert, Matt, Abbey, and great grandson Kingston. John leaves behind the unforgettable bond he shared with his sister Elaine Bertelesen and brothers Jim and Gerry, American cousin/brother Bill, sister-in-law Marie Ann. Sadly, his beloved sister Mary Ann and brother Bill. He will be sorely missed and equally remembered by his extended family of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Clark family would like to thank the outstanding staff at the London Health Sciences Centre for their generosity and compassion. A very special thanks to his Palliative Care Team for giving John the support he needed to keep him safe and comfortable in his peaceful passing.

If anyone is interested in donating in John's memory, you can do so to London Regional Cancer Clinic or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. A Celebration Of Life reception will be held in the summer of 2022.

To all who knew John, please raise your glass at the end of your day to wish him a safe journey on his new pathway. He will be forever missed.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of John Clark.
