Eric Warner, Monticello Raceway’s Director of Racing, wants to remind everyone that the entry box for the Mighty M’s Au Revoir will close tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
The event , for 14-year-old only, will be contested this Friday afternoon.
“If all who have inquired about the Au Revoir enter, there will certainly be enough horses to once again have final race for the 14-year-olds,” Warner said. “We are offering a $7,500 purse, and thanks to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board both pacers and trotters are eligible to compete.”
According to the rules and regulations of the United States Trotting Association, once Standardbreds reach the age of 15 they are no longer eligible to race, though that ruling has been modified to allow the old timers to compete in matinee races, amateur races and non-wagering events.
Anyone with a 14-year-old pacer or trotter who wants to enter the in Au Revoir can do so by calling Warner in the race office at (845) 794-4100 (ext 557) prior to 9 a.m.
