It begins with a 12:45 p.m. matinee card on New Year’s Day and 82 race dates later concludes on December 29, 2013 with a season-closing 12:45 p.m. afternoon start.
Ken Stratton, General Manager of Fraser Downs Racetrack & Casino, refers to the 2013 split season as “one we’re all happy with” as it provides horsemen with five months of competition January through May before a summer break, then resuming for another five months August through December.
During the 39-date first half of the schedule there are 19 Friday night cards (7:00 p.m.), 5 Saturday nights (7:00 p.m.), 14 Sunday afternoons (12:45 p.m.) and the traditional January 1st (Tuesday) 12:45 p.m. start.
After a 13-week summer hiatus, racing resumes with the first of 43 dates on Thursday, Aug. 15 (5:30 p.m.) followed by 17 Friday nights (7:00 p.m.), 10 Saturday nights (7:00 p.m.), 13 Sunday afternoons (12:45 p.m.) and the traditional holiday dates of Monday, Nov. 11 and Thursday, Dec. 26 at 12:45 p.m.
