The O’Brien Awards Black-Tie Gala is Canadian harness racing’s version of the Academy Awards and each year, not unlike what we see on the Red Carpet at the Oscars, the guests outdo themselves with incredibly stunning, glamourous, and sometimes jaw-dropping gowns and tuxedos.
Who could forget trainer-driver Kelly Hoerdt wearing his custom-made Philadelphia Eagles tux, or Stephanie Jamieson and Cheryl Moreau looking like absolute princesses in their spectacular custom gowns?
You never know what fashion statements to expect at the O’Brien Awards, but year after year, it never seems to disappoint.
The inspiration for guests’ attire usually comes from the Gala’s theme each year.
The organizers of this year’s Gala are excited to announced that the Graydon Hall Ballroom at the Hilton Mississauga / Meadowvale will be transformed into a spectacle that embraces a “Beyond Black & White” theme which should make for a very colourful evening!
The ballroom will be decorated with elegant black and white linens, and we are hoping that will inspire guests to dress in attire that is beyond the traditional black and white ensemble to fill the ballroom with an array of colours, glamour, sequence, and sparkle.
Men don’t have as many options as the ladies, as the majority of tuxedos come in classic black, but you can always add a splash of colour with your accessories! Or you could step outside the box and check out some different coloured tuxes!
The options are limitless for the ladies!
