John Houston Passes

Longtime Standardbred owner John Houston of Cobourg, Ont., passed on Tuesday (Dec. 10) at the age of 84.

Houston, who owned horses in conjunction with trainer John Bax, was an active member in the Standardbred industry for almost 40 years. Houston owned 30 horses during his tenure in harness racing, most recently Golden Gavel, who finished second in the Ontario Autumn Series final at Flamboro Downs in November.

A celebration of life will take place next Tuesday (Dec. 17) from 1 to 4 p.m. at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg, Ont.
