Tattersalls Sales Co. reminds prospective sellers that its Winter Mixed Sale, to be held January 18 at the Meadowlands, is set to close, so entries should be submitted as soon as possible.
The sale, again to be held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is the flagship sale for the company and its largest catalogue of the year. It will be an in-person sale but “live” online bidding will be provided through Proxibid, a setup that has worked very well for sales throughout the past year.
According to manager David Reid, the sale is already loaded not only with quality, but horses currently racing with success at top levels of action.
“We continue to be in a situation where demand is outpacing supply, so owners and trainers know that if they enter a high-quality horse, they’re going to be rewarded when the hammer falls,” Reid said.
“Most tracks have fared pretty well despite Covid and purses have recently been raised in many jurisdictions, including the Meadowlands and Yonkers. Consignors know there’ll be plenty of action on the right horses.”
The sale is for “horses of all ages” and will include broodmares, race fillies to race or breed, stallion shares, racehorses and short yearlings. Several racehorse reductions from well-known stables have already been catalogued.
Those planning to enter should contact their sales agent, or submit entries themselves on the Tattersalls website (tattersallsredmile.com) or by calling the sale office at (914) 773-7777.
