Organizers behind the scheduled November 10 horsemen's rally outside of the main entrance of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair have announced that the rally has been cancelled.
The announcement appears below.
November 10 Horseman’s Rally Outside Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Cancelled
This notice is to advise that the Horseman’s Rally – organized to raise awareness of the fallout from the Ontario Government’s decision to cancel the Slots-at-Racetracks program, scheduled for November 10 at 10:00 a.m. outside the main entrance of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, has been cancelled.
The cancellation relates to last minute, unexpected difficulties in receiving approval to stage the event on the grounds of Exhibition Place, where the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is being held. The roadblock put in front of the event was quick to appear and without proper advance warning of this, there was no choice left but to cancel the event.
However, the issues that inspired the creation of the event remain and plans will soon begin on the staging and organizing of another event, designed to raise public awareness of the issue in a non-partisan manner. As soon as plans have been organized, further information will be provided to all who are interested.
We deeply regret that this decision had to be made as such a late stage. We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused but we thank you for your support of the rally and hope that we can count on your support as other events are arranged.
