The 2017 World Driving Champion, James MacDonald, will make a guest appearance at The Royal Winter Fair on Wednesday, November 8 in the Trot 4 Kids Stable section of Equine Guelph’s Equimania! exhibit.
MacDonald, who earned the title of World Driving Champion in August after competing in 22 races at five racetracks in four provinces, will be on hand in his Canadian colours, to meet and greet children visiting the Royal, and talk to them about harness racing from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Equimania! features interactive displays and activities for youth to learn about horses, horse health and safety around the farm.
Equimaniacs can expect to don the ever-popular horse hats while learning all about horses in an interactive way. New this year, is a hopscotch game encouraging kids to Stop, Think and Act, making good choices when it comes to safety around the farm. While engrossed in the well-travelled, award-winning display, kids and parents will learn more about horses and safety inside the stable and out, around equipment and when handling them.
Standardbred Canada is one of the sponsors of the Equimania! program and has been involved since its inception.
The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair takes place from November 3 through November 12.
