Sweet Lou will be honoured Saturday, November 8 at Pocono Downs in a special ceremony.
The powerhouse pacer dominated in a world record performance on Sun Stakes Saturday (June 28) with a time of 1:47, the fastest mile ever paced on a five-eighths-mile track.
The son of Yankee Cruiser has won 10 of 17 starts this year. The 10 wins, which were all in sub-1:49 fashion, came consecutively. Sweet Lou is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Larry Karr and Phil Collura and is trained by Ron Burke. Sweet Lou’s connections will be on hand to escort him to the winner’s circle following the sixth race.
Starting at 6:30 p.m., fans may pick up their official Sweet Lou hat at the trackside concession stand on the apron, located in the lower grandstand (with their Racing Rewards card and valid ID, one per fan, while supplies last).
The hat is in Burke Racing Stable colours and boasts the pacer’s 1:47 time under his name. Fans are asked to wear their hat and be outside the winner’s circle to greet the champion pacer as he makes his way to the circle for his ceremony.
Post time for the night’s card of live racing is 6:30 p.m.
