Kermit Hinshaw Passes

Kermit Hinshaw, 95, a former USTA director and a member of the Iowa Harness Racing Hall of Fame, passed away on Tuesday, November 4.

Born and raised in Richland, Iowa, Hinshaw owned and operated Hinshaw Homestead Farms in Richland, Iowa.

He campaigned Jodevin 2,1:59, the 1976 national two-year-old trotting champion, and winner of 21 out of 22 starts; Curtain 2,2:03.1, the fastest two-year-old trotting gelding on a five-eighths-mile track in 1983; and Installed 3,1:59.3, winner of the Windy Skeeter Trot in 1987.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday (November 7) from 6-8 p.m. at Woolson Friends Church in Richland. Services will be held Saturday (November 8) at 1 p.m., also at Woolson Friends Church.
