Due to an increase in track and simulcasting handle the previous month, the Quebec Jockey Club has applied for and received permission from the Quebec Racing Commission to add one more day of racing at the Hippodrome 3R on Sunday, Nov. 14.
“We are very pleased to add another day of racing,” said QJC President Claude Levesque. “We have seen a big growth in our handle despite all the COVID restrictions, we have plenty of horses in the entry box and our horsemen and women want to race more. Even the weather has cooperated throughout most of the season.”
François Carignan, now at the helm of H3R as Director of Racing, filling in that role until the end of the race season as Murielle Thomassin has left the position, wants to end the season in style and he has concocted for the second to last program, several promotions that will please the fans at the track.
Among these promotions are a free race program, attendance prizes with lucky roulette, specials on beverages at the bar, the contest of the 8 Lucky Ones, among others. This Sunday is called Recognition Day, a recognition by the management of the track towards its distinguished clientele.
The first race on Sunday is also in tribute to Ms. Nicole Martin, who was employed as a teller at H3R for more than 50 years and passed away this year from cancer. Martin has always been appreciated by other employees as well as by customers.
