Redemption Time For Dancers Pass?

Published: November 22, 2019 12:23 pm EST

After sealing her fate with an early break in stride as the post time favourite last week, Dancers Pass will take another crack at the top pacing mares in the Saturday afternoon feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 12-dash Saturday card gets underway at 12:30 P.M., with the $2,700 top mares pace lining up in the finale. Dancers Pass gets the services of David Dowling, who was crowned the MacDonald Driving Champion last week with a 13-point lead over Gilles Barrieau. Dancers Pass leaves from post three on Saturday for trainer and co-owner Phil Kelly of Emyvale, John MacKenzie of Springvale and Allan McGuigan of Charlottetown. She was on the run before the start in her latest but made up a double-digit deficit in length to only be beat by three lengths and finish in a dead-heat for fifth.

Arc Light was the winner in this class last week and will leave from post four for driver Marc Campbell. Indywheelbarrow makes her East Coast debut with post five as Adam Merner will steer the Chris Davies trainee for owner Luke Burke of Marshfield. The six-year-old daughter of Panspacificflight boasts a lifetime best of 1:52.2 over Hoosier Park in Indiana and was most recently racing at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac will side with Dancers Pass for the top spot this week.

“Dancers Pass made up a ton of ground last week after the early break to wind up just three lengths in arrears at the finish,” MacIsaac said. “She's eligible to rebound today and probably at a better price.”

Also in the field are Outrageous Spirit (Gordie Hennessey), Drivingthedragon N (Jason Hughes), The Time To Win (Barrieau), Mrs Dragonfire (Corey MacPherson), Imagine Speed (Mark Bradley) and Julep Hanover (Wade Myers).

The trotting titans return to competition in Race 8 of the card in the $2,450 top trot class. Star Photo and Freddie were absent from racing last week but will occupy the outside two spots in the afternoon’s featured trot. Hughes will steer Star Photo from post six after a second-place finish to Freddie in his latest, while Campbell is back at the lines of Freddie with post seven.
