Randy Waples has asked Trot Insider to inform horsepeople that, due to the after-effects of an on-track incident at Woodbine on Friday night, he'll be off of his drives there tonight (Nov. 21).
"I got tossed around pretty good in that mishap in the 7th race last night, and then Mike's [Saftic] horse hit me pretty hard from behind. There was nothing he could do about it, but it left me with a bit of whiplash. I can barely turn my head."
Waples, who currently sits 3rd in Canada with over $4.6 million in purse earnings for the year, wanted to apologize to the owners and trainers that had him listed tonight.
"I'm sorry to give people this late notice, and I was hoping my neck would loosen up as the day went on, but I'm not going to be able to drive tonight at Woodbine. I'm hoping that it will be good again by Monday."
Update: Trot Insider has learned that Waples is also off his Monday drives at Woodbine.
