Ms Avondale Passes

Ms Avondale, by Beach Towel out of the New Zealand mare Kiwi River N, had to be euthanized on Monday, November 18.

A hard-knocking invitational mare, Ms Avondale took a mark of 1:52.1 at Cal Expo, shattering the track record for three-year-old fillies, a mark that still stands today.

Retired to the breeding shed, Ms Avondale proved her value as a broodmare, producing such progeny as California Dream p,3,1.51.4 ($160,108), Jersey Dream p,3,1:52 ($110,427) and Dream Of New York p,3,1:52.2s ($61,199).

California Dream also broke the track record at Cal Expo as a three-year-old, making Ms Avondale and California Dream the only mother/son combination to currently hold track records at Cal Expo.

Looking to follow in his siblings' footsteps, Miracles Needed, a three-year-old gelding, can be seen racing at the current Cal Expo meet.

Ms Avondale had a colt by Disco Devil at her side.

Please join Standardbred Canada on offering condolences to the connections of Ms Avondale
