The top mares racing in Prince Edward Island will convene again on Saturday afternoon with the top entry looking to redeem herself at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash card gets underway at 12:30 P.M. with the $2,350 Fillies and Mares Open pace hitting the track in race 12. Prettyndangerous will again be the morning line choice after making a break in the first turn and being a non-factor in last week’s top distaff pace. David Dowling is back in the bike for trainer Bo Ford, who co-owns with Arnold Myers of Charlottetown.
The eight-year-old daughter of Armbro Deuce gets post two this week after her run of five-straight top-three finishes was cut short by her miscue at the start last Saturday. That left the door open for Dustlanemissmolly to control the tempo and hit the winner’s circle in that event. The Myles Heffernan Jr., trained mare will start from post four with Myles Heffernan Sr., in the bike for owner Jackie Heffernan of Summerville, P.E.I. Collective Wisdom was the runner-up to Dustlanemissmolly and will retain the services of rookie pilot Drew Neill from post six.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac is banking of trainer Ford having the breaking issue resolved with Prettyndangerous as he places her in the win position.
“Prettyndangerous took herself out of it with the early break last week and burned a ton of money in the process,” MacIsaac said. “Those things can happen to the best of them though and you can bet your bottom dollar she'll be looking to redeem herself Saturday.”
Also in the field is Nikes Cowgirl (Marc Campbell), Julep Hanover (Wade Myers), West River Ambyr (Steven Shepherd) and Killean Finale (Ken Murphy).
Majian Tango has rail control in the sixth race Open Trot for a $1,950 purse. Jim Ripley trains the drives the four-year-old for Marylea Ripley of Amherst, N.S., who was second in his last start two weeks ago and was scratched this past week due to travel restrictions on the Confederation Bridge. Other top entries include Professor Gordon (Jason Hughes) and Dusty Lane Jacob (Adam Merner).
